Sib. 7.1.3: how to play the sounds from kontakt 5 correctly in sib 7 Posted by edgarvanasselt - 11 Oct 09:19AM Hide picture hi there,i just installed kontakt 5 and managed sibelius to play the sounds. If i understand well i have to either make a preset and/or a multi in Kontakt. Assign the channels to instruments in kontakt5 and sibelius will play them. The problem i have now is that sib7 does not play the sounds as i configured them in kontakt 5. That is to say, with the right parameters like reverb, release, velocity etc, etc..So the result is still quite poor compared to what the instruments sound like when i play them in kontakt 5 as a stand alone. Any ideas what could be the problem? -- Edgar van Asselt, composer, pianistSibelius 7, Kontakt 9 Ultimate, HP Pavillion DV6,Windows 7 64-bit, Intel Core i5-3210M CPU @2,50Ghz, 8 GB RAM, Roland Duo-Capture Back to top Allthreads Re: Sib. 7.1.3: how to play the sounds from kontakt 5 correctly in sib 7 Posted by Robin Walker - 11 Oct 09:41AM Hide picture On the basis of your description, it sounds as if you have not installed a SoundSet file for the sample library that you are trying to play through Sibelius.Sibelius cannot communicate things like reverb, release, velocity, and special articulations, to sample players unless there is a SoundSet file to tell Sibelius how to do it.If the sound library you are trying to use is the Kontakt Factory library, then you need to purchase and install this: -instruments/kontakt-5-factory-library/If it is some other sample library that you are trying to play, then let us know which sample library it is.-- Sibelius 7.1.3/6.2/5.2.5, PhotoScore Ult 7.0.2, Dolet 6 for Sibelius, Windows 7 32-bit SP1, 4GB RAM Back to top Allthreads Re: Sib. 7.1.3: how to play the sounds from kontakt 5 correctly in sib 7 Posted by edgarvanasselt - 11 Oct 11:08AM Hide picture Hi Robin, Thanks for your reply. Well the problem is (see screenprint attached) that sibelius lists a whole range of soundsets. However Kontakt 5 is not organised in this way. If i put the instruments i want in Kontakt attached to the same midichannel as in Sibelius, Sibelius plays them, but without the parameters i want and the result is so much less as the instument sound in Kontakt 5 seperately.BTW thanks for the tip. I do find it a bit strange that i have to purchase a seperate soundset for Sibelius, since i purchased the whole Kontakt 9 pack....anyway thanks for your comment.Best regards-- Edgar van Asselt, composer, pianistSibelius 7, Kontakt 9 Ultimate, HP Pavillion DV6,Windows 7 64-bit, Intel Core i5-3210M CPU @2,50Ghz, 8 GB RAM, Roland Duo-Capture Attachment prt scr soundset.jpg (639K) Back to top Allthreads Re: Sib. 7.1.3: how to play the sounds from kontakt 5 correctly in sib 7 Posted by Laurence Payne - 11 Oct 11:17AM (edited 11 Oct 11:17AM) Hide picture BTW thanks for the tip. We want text instructions, articulations etc. to be translated into control messages. That's what the soundset does. Even then, you'll have to stick with one of the stock Kontakt libraries, for which someone has WRITTEN a soundset. Or write your own. Sibelius will automatically load up the sounds you want into MIDI channels, and you will not have to worry about assigning instruments in Kontakt ever again. You still have not told us which sample library you are trying to play through Kontakt Player.-- Sibelius 7.1.3/6.2/5.2.5, PhotoScore Ult 7.0.2, Dolet 6 for Sibelius, Windows 7 32-bit SP1, 4GB RAM Back to top Allthreads Re: Sib. 7.1.3: how to play the sounds from kontakt 5 correctly in sib 7 Posted by edgarvanasselt - 11 Oct 11:57AM Hide picture Hi there, I'm trying to adress several libraries. Questions:1) Perhaps Kontakt Factory Selection Sibelius Sound Set is not necessary, as this seems just to be a sub-set of Kontakt Factory Library?2) Is there a Sibelius sound set for Complete Orchestral Collection? I can't see it listed in 3) I also have Korg M1 Legacy, and Era Medieval Legends (the latter requiring its own player, ENGINE), both VST devices. Are there Sibelius sound sets for these available? I have loaded these as active devices in Sibelius, but can't see any instruments for these under Playback Devices/Active Devices/Sound Sets. Choosing instruments from another sound set doesn't work real well.4) How difficult is it to use the Sibelius Sound Set Editor for sound sets that I can't get?-- wfeg Back to top Allthreads Re: Sib. 7.1.3: how to play the sounds from kontakt 5 correctly in sib 7 Posted by michele latocca - 28 Feb 02:17PM Hide picture post by M.
